Visit the Bibemus quarries with a stone carving demonstration
Presentation
Guided visit (2h15) - In the first part, Elodie, tour guide, will take you through this picturesque site, where the ochre stone called “pierre de Bibemus”, has been extracted since Roman time to build the city of Aix-en-Provence. We will go down to the depths of the canyon to understand the work of the quarrymen throughout the ages, with pictures as a medium.
In the second part of the visit, you’ll visit the open-air workshop of David Campbell, stonemason and sculptor of over 40 years of experience, licenced ES Lettres from the University of Aix-en-Provence.
